Boca Raton Museum of Art Looks Ahead to a Fall Season Built Around Art, Connection and Community

From major new exhibitions to wellness programs, family experiences and a countywide literary initiative, the Boca Raton Museum of Art is expanding the ways South Florida can experience the arts.

The Boca Raton Museum of Art is heading into a busy fall, with new exhibitions, educational programs and community events giving residents plenty of reasons to make a return visit to Mizner Park.

At the center of the upcoming season is Tobi Kahn: Quest for the Essence, an exhibition examining more than four decades of work by New York painter and sculptor Tobi Kahn. Opening in November, the exhibition brings together paintings, works on paper, sculptures and ritual objects, including works that have remained part of the artist’s own collection and studio environment.

Kahn’s work often explores spirituality, place, nature and the search for meaning. While his Jewish heritage is an important part of his artistic practice, the exhibition reaches beyond a single religious tradition, focusing more broadly on ideas of community, reflection and healing. Kahn has been the subject of more than 70 solo museum exhibitions during his career.

The Boca Raton Museum of Art organized the exhibition, with Museum Director and CEO Dr. Ena Heller also authoring the accompanying 96-page publication. The book is being distributed by University Press of Florida.

Also arriving this fall is Spiritual Ecologies: Art, Nature, and Community, an exhibition exploring relationships between people, the natural world and community. The exhibition is scheduled to run into spring 2027.

Together, the exhibitions reflect a larger direction taking shape at the museum: creating experiences that encourage visitors not simply to look at art, but to connect with it personally.

More Than Exhibitions

That approach can already be seen throughout the museum’s calendar.

September programming includes gallery sketching, yoga, family workshops, artist programs, sound healing and events celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month. The museum has increasingly mixed traditional gallery experiences with hands-on learning, wellness and community programming designed for different ages and interests.

The museum’s art school extends that experience beyond the galleries. Located on West Palmetto Park Road, the Boca Raton Museum Art School offers programs for children, teens and adults across disciplines including painting, drawing, ceramics, photography, jewelry, fiber arts and sculpture.

It creates a natural connection between seeing art and making it — something that gives the Boca Raton Museum a different role than a traditional exhibition-only institution.

Inside the Process: TYPOE GRAN on Making and Meaning

Sound Healing

Sound therapist Tecia Linville leads a meditative sound bath featuring Tibetan and crystal singing bowls, flutes, drums and crystal harp inside the Museum’s Wolgin Education Center.

Yoga at the Museum

Yoga Journey Studio founder Leslie Glickman leads an all-levels Vinyasa practice surrounded by works of art, followed by an opportunity to experience the Museum’s galleries.
Cost: The Museum’s Yoga at the Museum series is typically $15 for members and $30 for non-members, with Museum admission included for non-members.

Modernisms in Motion
Friday, October 9 | 6:30–9:00 p.m.
The Symphonia and Boca Raton Museum of Art come together for an after-hours evening inspired by modernism across art, music and cuisine. The experience begins in the Ohnell Sculpture Garden with an aperitif and small bites before guests visit Modernisms: Art from the Manes Collection accompanied by live music from Symphonia musicians.
Cost: $150 per person, including gratuity.

A Bigger Community Role

The museum is also preparing to take part in the 2026–2027 NEA Big Read after receiving a $20,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest.

Boca Raton’s program will center on Ernest Hemingway’s A Farewell to Arms. The initiative is expected to bring literary and cultural programming into the broader Palm Beach County community while connecting the novel with art, history, music, theater and storytelling.

The grant places the Boca Raton Museum of Art among organizations across the country selected for the national program and provides another example of the museum moving beyond the walls of its galleries.

That broader mission is especially significant for an institution with deep roots in the city. Founded in 1950 as the Art Guild of Boca Raton, the organization has evolved into a cultural campus that includes the museum in Mizner Park and its Art School. Its collection today has particular strengths in modern and contemporary art, drawings, watercolors and photography, along with works from Africa and the ancient Americas.

For South Florida residents who haven’t visited recently, this fall may be a good time to take another look.

The experience is no longer limited to walking through an exhibition. On any given week, a visit could include contemporary art, a family workshop, a yoga session, live programming, an art class or simply an afternoon discovering a collection that has been growing in Boca Raton for decades.
